Our Favorite Restaurants Near Chatham University

Chatham University’s campus is right inside of Shadyside, a neighborhood filled with different shops and restaurants. The campus is in a comfortable green area that’s surrounded by tall trees, but once you make it just a few blocks away, you’ll be surrounded by restaurants.

These restaurants are some of the best in Pittsburgh. You’ll find foods from various cultures, price points, and styles. Some places are more upscale and some are far more casual. There is American, Mediterranean, European foods, and so much more available to you with just a short walk. Here are some of the best restaurants near Chatham University!

Five Points Bakery

Five Points Bakery is a family owned artisan shop. Their goal is to provide the neighborhood with the highest quality European style breads and pastries. They sell baguettes, croissants, cookies, and wheat loaves. All their breads are made at least 20 hours in advance. It gives the bread more flavor and keeps the bakery stocked with dough so they can serve you fresh baked bread all day!

They sell several delectable pastries. You can find cinnamon buns, apple tarts, and scones among other things. They even have a few vegan options. This bakery serves sandwiches as well, but only during certain days of the week.

Acorn

Acorn is known for their upscale American style food. It is located on Shadyside’s historic Walnut Street. This restaurant sources its food meticulously. They make sure to buy fresh, locally sourced food that they use different methods to prepare. They combine local ingredients and prep styles to create their signature style of exciting yet familiar foods. 

Acorn is known for its amazing brunch menu. You can order pancakes, sandwiches, eggs, and homemade bagels among other options. The dinner menu is also appealing with its choices for trout, ramen, and pappardelle.

Yoshino

Yoshino is an Asian fusion restaurant that sells amazing sushi. One great feature of theirs is how nicely they present their food. You can look forward to seeing nicely laid out sushi rolls surrounded by decorative sauces. When you come with a large party, you can get a large sushi platter that takes up your whole table! 

This restaurant combines many different flavors to make its fusion foods. Some of those foods include tuna salmon ceviche, mango lobster salad, and “monster” rolls.

This restaurant serves traditional American foods along with their version of other types of cuisines. For appetizers, you’ll find bruschetta, buffalo chicken dip, jerk grilled chicken, and platanos fritos. You can get poke bowls, pork dumplings, and guacamole deviled eggs. You can get tacos, salads, and soups along with pizzas and burgers. The menu is so long, you’ll have a lot to choose from!

“Cool place on Walnut St. Large appetizers and a great place for groups. It's a large location and in a prime spot. I got the fried green tomato salad and I could barely finish it all. Point Brugge Café has been a part of the neighborhood since 2005. They serve amazing Belgian inspired cuisine that is a hit in the area. Their fresh ingredients and reasonable prices are a few things that make it a local favorite. It is consistently rated as one of the top restaurants in the area by different publications. 

This restaurant offers brunch, lunch, and dinner. On the menu you’ll find shrimp and grits, poutine, and pork belly hash. You can get entrees like chicken Milanese, salmon, and squash ravioli. They also have plenty of soups and salads. 

“Another great neighborhood spot in Point Breeze!  Moule frites in white wine sauce are life changing. I can say they're the best mussels in the city with confidence. They also have Park Brugge in Highland Park that is usually a little less crowded. Worth a trip 100%.” -- Yelp Review
